A star of BBC talent show The Voice is set to headline Waltham Abbey’s first Festival of Variety later this month.

Luciee Marie Closier, 17, from Loughton, was chosen to be part of Kaiser Chiefs' singer Ricky Wilson’s team on the BBC1 talent show earlier this year.

The festival will take place on June 14 in Sun Street with Luciee taking to the stage at 1pm.

There will also be performances from local dance groups Hip Hop Pop, Burlesque Jems, Abbey Performing Arts and Phoenix Clowns.

The performances will take place on an open air stage outside the police station in Sun Street and are free to watch.

The festival continues into the evening with a performance of musical Don’t Dilly Dally! in the Cornmill Suite in Waltham Abbey Town Hall.

Set during the Second World War, the musical has been created especially for the festival, and the performers are all members of the local community.

Tickets for Don’t Dilly Dally! are priced at £8.50 and are available from the tourist information centre on 01992 660336.
