An unemployed man was given the shock of his life this morning when he took delivery of a brand new Porsche.

Andrew Boyce had been out in his old Ford Escort today when he returned to Oakland Road in Leyton to see the £53,000 car sat outside his house, along with an excited crowd of neighbours.

Mr Boyce won the top spec Boxster GTS and £10,000 after winning a 'spot the ball' competition at Westfield in Stratford.

He spent £250 on 50 tickets trying to take top prize.

The 52-year-old said that the first place he plans to take the care is on a drive to Southend, but he has no immediate plans for the cash.

“It’s exciting, I have never won anything before in my life,” he said.

“I would like to have a holiday, somewhere nice and hot. I think I would like to give some to a charity, too.”

Good to see our Welfare payments being spent on worthwhile things such as "spot the ball" competitions.

Will he declare his good fortune to the benefits office?

Anyhow, with his good looks and that car he will be a real head turner.

Welcome to benefits Britain.

Check those first three comments, from those who support the privileged in our society, people who never lifted a finger to make their wealth, inherited through generations, originally stolen from commoners and colonies.

More good luck to this man.

You are sounding dafter than ever, do you mean the likes of the champaign socialists? Like Tony Benn, Hillary Benn Stella Creasy, Prescott ( my wife wants to be called Lady) and of course the Blair children, all of whom have been given 'starter homes' costing well over a million pounds each and have been nepotised and parachuted into 'football managing' jobs, lucrative posts in a Law Firm thanks to Cheerie Bliar and of course Euan being lined up with the sons of Prescott, Straw and Kinnock into safe labour seats? Our very own Cryer who was helped by mummy also.

Yes, I see what you mean.

Nowhere does it say he's on benefits. It does say he's going to donate to charity, however- why no comments on that?

Good luck to the fella.

I ride a bicycle I do not drive a motor car, why would I want a sports car?

I care because I work hard and have never claimed benefits in my life.

Benefits were not introduced (even by Labour) to be spent at £250 a time on gambling.

I hope he has the decency to report his win to the dole office.
