Police officers took on young offenders in a football match which attempt to build bridges. 

Members of the Metropolitan Police’s Gangs unit took on meen currently taking part in the young offenders strand of Community Payback scheme.

The match between officers and Waltham Forest Kings was held at Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road stadium.

Captain of the Police team, Mike Halpin, said that the game was an example of the positive ways in which the police are trying to discourage gang behaviour.

He said: “This match is just one part of an on-going initiative to challenge gang culture through enforcement while offering support and engagement opportunities.

“This match was great fun for both teams and my officers did have to work hard to win the cup against the ‘Waltham Forest Kings’."

The police team won 6-5.
