A primary school pupil made her international debut at Lords as a mascot when England's cricket team took on Sri Lanka in a one-day international.

Jessie Bussell, who is in year six at Staples Road Primary School in Loughton, was given the opportunity as part of a charity initiative through Loughton Cricket Club.

Jessie said: “It was so exciting to get so close to the players before the match and be out on pitch for the coin toss.

“The players were really friendly and happily stopped to give me an autograph.

“It was a great opportunity that I’ll never forget and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch and play cricket again.”
