Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman’s gold necklace was ripped from her neck.

The 64-year-old victim was targeted by two robbers in Clayhall Avenue, near the junction with Tiptree Crescent in Barkingside, at 1.20pm on May 23.

She was approached stealthily from behind by the men as she walked with her husband towards Tiptree Crescent.

They snatched the necklace before running into Tiptree Crescent.

The woman was not injured in the incident and her husband phoned police shortly after it happened, and they provided a description of the muggers.

Police described the first suspect as a black man, 6ft 4ins, in his mid-20s with a slim athletic build and short hair.

He is said to have a light skin tone and a square muscular face.

The suspect was wearing a green sleeveless body warmer, a grey or white long sleeve top and blue jeans.

The second suspect is described as a black man, 5ft 6ins and around 20-years-old.

He is slim and wearing a black jacket.

No arrests have yet been made.
