A craft business is to donate a share of its profits to maintain the park it calls home.

Ceramic Magic will be opening in Hainault Country Park, Romford Road, Hainault, on Thursday.

Neighbours in Chigwell, Alison Lawson, 43, and Beverley Rumsey, 41, are setting up the business for Miss Lawson to get back into work after giving birth to her daughter.

The business will offer customers the chance to decorate pottery with paint and take them home after their session.

With her daughter now a two-year-old, Miss Lawson wanted to find craft activities in the area to get involved in, but when her search proved fruitless, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

A party for the public is being held tomorrow from 2.30pm to 4.30pm to mark the start of the business.

Miss Rumsey said: “We would love it to become part of the community.

"We have an agreement with the park which means we give some of our profits to them, as we basically live on the park's doorstep we are happy to give something back to it.

“The idea is not only to run the business but also to get more and more people enjoying the park and getting together as a community. The busier we are the more we can help the park.

“My boyfriend and Alison’s fiancé are totally behind the venture and have been helping in the background get everything ready."

The rented studio will be based next to the farm at the park, open Thursday to Sunday each week.

Visitors will get tea and biscuits included in the £3.95 package price, with one and a half hour sessions starting at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.
