An environmental group has won an award for its bee project last week.
Co-cordinator of Wanstead and Woodford Friends of the Earth, Diana Korchien, accepted the Earthmovers Project of the Year award at the event in Castleton, Derbyshire, on June 13.
The project, Seeds for Snaresbrook, used a Olympic Legacy grant to fund the planting of bee-friendly flowers while reducing herbicide use.
Nearly 250 tree-pits in the Snaresbrook ward have been adopted by residents and traders and sown with mixes of wildflowers and bee-friendly cultivars.
