A rubbish pile which has been in place for almost a month is now blocking a public footpath.

Various items including a wooden table, broken wood and glass has been dumped along a footpath by the side of Sewardstone Road in Waltham Abbey.

Samantha Udall, from Butlers Drive, uses the path to walk her dog and to access shops and feels something should be done about the growing pile of rubbish which she last reported to Epping Forest District Council on June 3.

She said: “It’s unacceptable. It’s been there for about a month now.

“I’ve reported it three times because more and more rubbish keeps being added to the pile and now if you have a pushchair or a small child you can't get past it."

Mrs Udall also feels the unsightly fly-tipping will impact local tourism.

She added: “A lot of tourists come to the area and stay at the Premier Inn and the campsite, and they take walks but this does not look good and it won’t help promote the area.

Mrs Udall has contacted Epping Forest District Council which she claims has said it is unable to act and is trying to contact the landowner.

The council has been asked for a comment.
