A burglar caught be officers at the scene of a break-in at an industrial steel firm is to be sentenced next month.

Unemployed Tyrone Grant, 36, of High Road, Leyton pleaded guilty to one count of burglary at Thames Magistrates Court yesterday.

Police were called to Lea Bridge Steel Works in Rigg Approach, Leyton, on May 24 after the security alarm was sounded.

Grant had climbed up the outside of the building and broke into the offices where he then stole £1, 400 cash.

He was caught by officers at the scene and taken to an east London police station for questioning where he was released and later charged on June 16.

The 36 year-old has been released on bail to appear at Thames Magistrates Court for sentencing on July 8.
