Police in Waltham Forest have released a CCTV image of a suspected currency exchange fraudster.

Suspect 150170 is wanted in connection with fraud in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on May 6 at 3pm.

The man approached the victim inside a currency exchange shop and offered him what he said was a better deal for é1000 than what was available in the shop.

The cost of é1000 inside the exchange would have been £840 but the suspected fraudster asked for £750 for the same amount, and the pair left the shop.

Once in the street, he conned the victim by showing him 100 real euros, but instead handed him a é100 euro note wrapped around twelve $1 dollar bills.

The CCTV image has been released to the Guardian as part of a joint venture with the Metropolitan Police to identify potential perpetrators of unsolved crimes in the borough.

Anyone with information should contact Waltham Forest police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
