A man who was injured in a suspected drive-by shooting has been released from hospital.

The 21-year-old was taken by a relative to a north London hospital in the early hours of Friday morning after sustaining a gunshot wound in Silver Birch Avenue, Chingford.

Police have confirmed the victim has been discharged from hospital with minor injuries and the specialist crime and operations unit of the Metropolitan Police are continuing with the investigation.

According to residents living on the estate, they heard three gun shots in quick succession and then the noise of a car speeding off from the scene.

One eye witness said the victim was shot as he returned to his black Ford Fiesta to get something out of the car between midnight and 1am.

No arrests have been made.
