A school held a special Brazil day in celebration of the World Cup host country.

Children and staff at Woodford Green Preparatory School, in Snakes Lane West, Woodford Green, went to school on Monday dressed in yellow, green and blue, the colours of the Brazilian flag.

The day involved learning about Brazil, the Amazon rainforest and a lunch involving samba music and decorations, with donations to the Sky Amazon rainforest rescue charity.

Head of geography, Miss Cunningham, who organised the day, said:“It was great that everyone entered into the spirit of the day.

"Around the school the atmosphere was fantastic and there was a buzz of learning.

"Hopefully the children have a better understanding of this amazing country that is so far away, but is also so important to all of our lives.”
