A housing provider has promised to visit a woman who was left in a home with just a kitchen sink and a bathroom that she cannot use.

Ascham Homes apologised for the delay experienced by disabled woman Gillian Todd.

The 54-year-old was moved out of her home in Essex Close, Walthamstow five weeks ago after what she calls ‘persistent damp’ made it impossible for her to stay.

But despite being promised a whole new bathroom and kitchen in her new home, the fittings were ripped out three weeks ago and have not been replaced.

A spokesman for Ascham Homes said: “Works have recommenced and we have been advised that that the kitchen installation will be completed by 30 June 2014.

“We are sorry to hear Mrs Todd is unhappy with delay she experienced. We apologise that there has been a delay in completing the works related to unforeseen additional works.

“Arrangements have been made to visit Mrs Todd to explain why works to complete the kitchen installation took a little longer than anticipated and to allow us to improve communication in works of this nature moving forward.”
