A 10-year-old pupil at Alderton Junior School has been selected as one of two winners in a poster design competition, beating over 1,000 other entries from schools across Epping Forest.

The competition, run by Epping Forest District Council in conjunction with Sita UK, asked pupils to submit designs for the side of Epping Forest’s refuse vehicles promoting recycling.

Patsy Stow, the winning entrant from Alderton Junior School, described herself as “thrilled and excited” to have won with her “Reduce. Reuse, Recycle” poster, featuring a brightly coloured hand-drawn background.

She and the other winner, Belle Liggitt, were awarded vouchers to Chessington World of Adventures, while their respective schools received £500 each.

Patsy even got to see her design in action when a refuse vehicle clad in her design arrived outside her school! Patsy’s mum Leanne described her hope that her daughter's win would “help start her career in design.”
