Students at a Woodford Green prep school have raised £4,000 to fund a health centre in North West Tanzania.
The Mugoma Health Centre is to be built in memory of Dr Annabelle Joyce, who, during her time as a doctor worked in both London and Tanzania with her husband Dr Ciaran Joyce – parents of three children at Bancroft’s school in High Road, Woodford Green.
The school was last week visited by Bishop Aaron Kilanjali, from the village of Mugoma, who joined the school for an assembly and to collect the cheque on Thursday.
He said: "This means a lot to me as a bishop, but also a lot to the people who I serve."
