The William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow has been awarded a £180,000 cash injection to fund extra programmes and activities for its visitors.

As of next year the gallery will receive £60,000 per year for three years from the Arts Council England.

Contemporary art is to be the main focus of the cash given to the Forest Road.

Chris Robbins, Leader of Waltham Forest Council said that it is ‘great news’.

He said: “Recently, the Gallery has worked with top names such as Grayson Perry and Jeremy Deller, and this extra funding means we will now be able to offer more contemporary art programmes to our residents and visitors from further afield.”

Co-ordinators at the gallery William hope to continue the success of its contemporary arts programme, increase visitor numbers and build on the achievements of its schools outreach work.
