Businesses and schools are getting into the ‘carnival’ spirit ahead of the Tour de France on Monday.

The race route will take in High Road, Woodford Green, and Woodford New Road after riders arrive from Epping Forest and head for central London, via Waltham Forest.

A total of 13 schools in Woodford Green and South Woodford will be closed or partially closed on Monday, and thousands of people are expected to attend the ‘carnival’.

Deputy leader of Redbridge’s Labour council, Wes Streeting said: “It is a really fantastic opportunity and a privilege for the borough.”
