Yellow bike stickers have been appearing in shop windows ahead of Monday’s Tour de France.

The stickers have been sold to businesses in High Street, Epping, to get the town into the spirit of the race.

There has, however, been a mixed response from businesses in Epping to the tour coming past their windows.

Cafes, restaurants and pubs are expected to do well from catering for the thousands of hungry and thirsty spectators while some clothes retailers and hairdressers plan to close.

Daniele Fabbricatore, manager of Epping Tea Rooms, who also has the sticker in his window, said: “The stickers give a lift to the event and a bit more of a special feel to it.

“We hope it will be beneficial and we’re hoping to make the most of it.

“We’ll be open at 8am until the food runs out.”
