Redbridge council has been given a grant of £325,000 to repair pot holes.
The borough's allocation of £324,943 was the sixth highest in London, more than £60,000 above the average allocation for London boroughs.
Labour's Cllr Baldesh Nijjar, cabinet member for the environment, said: “This has been made possible with money from the Department for Transport and we are at this time assessing which areas will be treated with the money available.
"We estimate that the council will be able to repair around 8,000 pot holes by March 2015.
“We understand that pot holes aren’t just ugly and inconvenient, they also represent a potential hazard for motorists, cyclists and those crossing the borough’s roads.
"We are committed to ensuring Redbridge’s roads are as safe as possible and this is a real step forward in improving their safety."
