Firefighters took 46 minutes to put the flames out.
Firefighters tackled a flat fire on Sunday evening.
The alarm was raised at 8.51pm in Roding View, Buckhurst Hill, and the fire was extinguish 45 minutes later.
Smoke was seen pouring from the first floor of the house, which has been converted into two flats.
The cause of the fire is unknown and an investigation is under way.
There are no reports of any injuries.
