There was an average of one accident a week at Redbridge roundabout over a three-and-a-half year period, it has emerged.
A Freedom of Information request by Redbridge Roundabout Action Group member, Alan Haymes, shows police recorded 187 road traffic accidents at the location between January 2011 and June 2014.
A total of 141 accidents were classed as damage-only.
An action group campaign petition calling for safety to be improved at the roundabout has attracted 1,250 signatures.
Mr Haymes said: “It is quite extraordinary that there is an accident on average every week on the roundabout and this information legitimises our campaign.
“These are only the accidents that are reported to police, so I would think that there are many more minor accidents going unreported.”
