Firefighters are set to walk-out in a series of strikes during rush hour on nine days this month.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) have announced strike action between 6am and 8am and 5pm and 7pm on July 10, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 21.

On July 18 they will strike between 6am and 8am and 11pm and 1am on July 19.

The following day, July 19, union members will walk-out between 11am and 1pm and 11pm for another two hours.

The final strike in the series of walk-outs over changes to pensions will be between 5pm and 7pm on July 20.

A provision, known as ‘CapitalGuard’, will provide London with up to 27 fire engines during the walk-outs.

However, the capability of the service will be reduced.

A spokesman said: “The fire engines will attend a limited range of incidents and that, in the first instance, the normal initial attendance to incidents will be just one fire engine.”
