Three friends of a girl who died suddenly last year took part in a fundraising walk this weekend.

Former students at Forest School, in College Place, Snaresbrook, Ravina Bhanot, Isabelle Bishop and Sarah Newell took part in the walk in central London organised by the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Friend Aashi Sinha collapsed from a suspected undiagnosed heart problem in May 2013 just before her A-Level exams aged just 18.

The walk, on Sunday, was part of a number of events including a Christmas ball at the school, which have so far raised around £10,000 for CRY.

The Heart of London Bridges Walk involved over 1,000 people walking from the Victoria Embankment at 11am and finishing three hours later at the Hay’s Galleria, close to London Bridge.

The walk passed 12 of London’s most famous landmarks, to represent the deaths of the 12 young people who die every week in the UK from sudden, undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

Ravina Bhanot, 19, said: "The walk was a great experience, everyone was walking towards the same goal and have all lost someone suddenly.

"It was a really emotional atmosphere and everyone was motivating each other, it felt like a real community of people.

"Aashi had so much ahead of her and she was loved by everyone at the school, the loss was felt by everyone.

"We have spent the year raising money for her parents' chosen charity and we are planning to do more and more in memory of Aashi."

The friends are running the British 10k in central London this Sunday.
