A teenager is in hospital fighting for his life after being stabbed outside an off-licence last night.

Police in Waltham Forest are appealing for information after the 19 year-old was knifed outside the Avenue Food and Wine off licence in The Avenue, Highams Park, at around 10:40pm.

Officers were called to the scene after receiving a call from London Ambulance Service (LAS) following reports of a man suffering from stab wounds.

The teenager is in a critical condition at an east London hospital, police confirmed.

Two response vehicles and an ambulance were dispatched to Castle Avenue at 10:47pm but the spokeswoman said they were cancelled and the victim either made his own way, or was taken, to hospital.

Police in Waltham Forest are appealing for information and the crime is being investigated by Trident gang command officers.

No arrests have been made and a large cordon remains in place along The Avenue, blocking access to Castle Avenue and Church Avenue.
