Staff at a children's hospice have raised vital funds to 'pay for a day of care' after completing a running challenge.

The all-female team at Haven House in High Road, Woodford Green, took part in the British 10k run through central London yesterday.

Over £1,700 has been raised, but they are hoping to more than double the amount to pay for 24 hours of care at the hospice.

Marketing executive, Teena Antoniou from Chingford was one of the 'Haven House Hunnies' who took part.

She said: "I’ve never taken on a challenge like this before and it was hard at times, but knowing the amazing children and families that we look after personally, is a great incentive to keep running."

The Hospice's chief executive Mike Palfreman thanked the staff for their commitment.

"I think it says so much about the commitment of our staff, that they take on these enormous challenges outside of work and continue to fundraise for Haven House and the life-limited children and families that we support.

"I would love to see the team reach their target to Pay for a Day of care at the hospice as it would be an incredible achievement."
