The sixth annual Highams Park Day took place at Vincent Green in Highams Park on Saturday

Hundreds of families, couples, and friends soaked up the sun as they assembled on a village green over the weekend.

Highams Park Day, now in its sixth year, was organised by community forum group, the Highams Park Society and took place on Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

Children eating ice creams and having their face-painted were kept entertained throughout the day as they took part in a series of traditional and sporting fairground games.

At temperatures soared as high as 25c, families sought cover in shaded areas of stalls and tents on Vincent Green in Highams Park.

The sumo-wrestling in inflatable suits was particular popular among boys and girls as they rammed into one another, laughing and giggling all the same.

Fresh food was put on by Grace & Albert cookshop, based in Hale End Road, and Shaws Quality Butchers in Station Road, Chingford.

A big thank you to everyone involved for what we think was the most successful and best Highams Park Day yet.

Particular thanks go to John Avis our sound engineer, Paul Braham our MC, to all stallholders and entertainers and to whoever organised the weather.

Thanks also to Hobsons Sales & Lettings, Dendale Construction, Number One, The Avenue and all Local shops and businesses who contributed raffle prizes.

We also thank the Highams Park and Hale End Community Council for their financial support.

One last thank you to our organising committee, Pat, Mike, John, Ann and Lili for all their hard work and ideas.

Also thanks to Sandeep Christian, Chairman of the Highams Park Society who thought up the idea of holding Highams Park Day back in 2008 as an event to bring the community together.
