A man has died after being struck by a Tube train in Walthamstow.

British Transport Police (BTP) and emergency services, including London's Air Ambulance (LAA), were called to Blackhorse Road Station yesterday morning at around 11:40am following reports of a person under a train.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "Officers from the London Fire Brigade and medics from the London Ambulance Service also attended, but a 22-year-old man from Chingford was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The man’s family have been informed.

"The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

London's Air Ambulance landed in the playground of nearby Willowfield Humanities College in Clifton Avenue, Walthamstow.

The Victoria Line was suspended at 11:50am betweeen Walthamstow Central and Highbury and Islington after it was reported a man was seen on the tracks.

The suspension was lifted at 1:20pm with continuing severe delays until 3pm when a good service resumed.
