A charity celebrating its golden anniversary is appealing for donations to refurbish rooms for its guests.
Vitalise which runs Jubilee Lodge in Grange Farm, High Road, Chigwell, has launched the Raise a Room program in its 50th year to improve the facilities for disabled people and carers.
The scheme offers people the chance to help refurbish one of 50 rooms at the lodge through initiatives such as bake sales, quiz nights and office challenges.
A spokesman for the charity said: “Sadly, the majority of rooms have not seen significant improvements in nearly 20 years and the refurbishment is a top priority for 2014 and 2015.
“We intend to recognise each donation that enables us to refurbish a bedroom with the name of the sponsor being prominently displayed for all to see.”
The cost of each room is around £2,850 and the facilities required include new beds, hoists and accessible bathrooms.
To date the Raise a Room campaign has raised around £25,000 for Jubilee Lodge enabling five bedrooms and 10 bathrooms to be refurbished.
