Young people have been acknowledged for positive contributions and achievements.

Jack Petchey Foundation honoured the winners aged between 11 and 25 who were presented with a medallion on July 9 to accompany a certificate and £200 donation awarded in the last 12 months.

The money can be spent on projects of the winner’s choosing within their school or group.

Adults were also recognised with Leader Awards for their efforts in motivating and mentoring young people.

Among the winners was the Epping Forest Youth Council Young made up from school pupils in the district.

The members decide what community projects to work on and then develop the projects themselves.

Some notable projects of the council include highlighting energy saving in schools, raising the profile of work done by young people in the community to addressing negative attitude towards them and producing a personal safety DVD for school children.
