Two Wanstead men raised £984 for Mencap on a sponsored cycle ride.

Massimo Sbordi and Michal Katiuszyn, who both work in Cafe Belgique, Wanstead, completed a cycle marathon of 400 miles from London to Lands End, in just three days.

Mr Sbordi had his phone stolen and bank account emptied during the trip but still managed to successfully finish the journey.

"They were enthusiastically supported and encouraged, and generously sponsored by the people of Wanstead.”

The gift aid cheque was presented to Cheryl Evans who is administrator for Redbridge Mencap at Elmsford Avenue at an event in George Green.
