Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was killed in a crash.

A Vauxhall Corsa hit barriers on the A12, near the Moby Dick junction in Chadwell Heath, at around 10.15pm yesterday.

A 19-year-old male passeneger in the front seat of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old man, believed to be the driver, was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment for non-serious injuries.

A 20-year-old woman, who was travelling in a rear passenger seat, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police are awaiting formal identification of the dead man, but next of kin have been informed.
