A 24-year-old man is in custody after a man was stabbed after visiting a supermarket.

On Wednesday a man was attacked in Leytonstone High Road after shopping in a Tesco Express store at 4.30pm.

He suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital. His age has not been revealed by police.

A 24-year-old was arrested by police within 24 hours and has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is currently being held in custody at Snaresbrook Crown Court ahead of a court appearance on July 31.
