The failing NHS trust in charge of King George and Queen’s hospitals in Redbridge will provide updates on improvements at a public meeting tomorrow.

Chief Executive of Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals Trust (BHRUT), Matthew Hopkins, will update Redbridge council on the progress of the recently published improvement plan for 2014/15.

Redbridge Clinical Commissioning Group will also be in attendance to debate and respond to the action plan put forward to the trust.

Last month a report found the trust is in £38.9 million debt - the second highest liability of all London trusts - and in April a policy to not take children to A&E at King George in Goodmayes was uncovered by campaigners.

It followed Care Quality Commission criticisms of standards at both hospitals.

The public can attend the health scrutiny committee meeting at 7.15pm at Redbridge Town Hall, in High Road, Ilford.
