A knife attacker has been jailed after stabbing a Walthamstow man during an argument.

Unemployed Paul Chambers, 27, of Poole Road in Hackney, was convicted of grievous bodily harm on July 17 at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

He has been sentenced to three years in prison for the attack on towards the man.

He was initially tried for attempted murder in November 2013, but the jury could not reach a verdict.

His victim stumbled into Essex Minicabs in Dagenham after being stabbed in the stomach in Gale Street on June 30 of last year.

He was taken by taxi to Queens Hospital in Romford, where he spent more than a week in a medically induced coma.

Earlier that evening, Chambers had had an argument with the man, which led to him being stabbed.

A media appeal was launched to trace the identity of the driver who took the victim to hospital.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Rickells, said: "This case was initially difficult for officers due to the lack of information available and the serious condition of the victim.

"Through sheer diligence and determination, my officers found the information they needed to solve this crime and to take a dangerous individual off the streets."
