A pedestrian has been hospitalised with head injuries following a collision with a car in Loughton this morning. 

The man in his 20s was treated for neck and back injuries by paramedics in Goldings Hill, Loughton, shortly before 8.50am. 

He has been taken to Whipps Cross Hospital and his condition is not deemed to be life-threatening. 

The driver of the blakc Renault Clio, a 29 year-old man from Harlow has been arrested by Essex Police on suspicion of dangerous driving and taken to Harlow Police Station for questioning. 

Police remain at the scene and have closed Goildings Hill as they carry out investigative work. 

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and there are long queues on Earl's Path towards Loughton from the Robin Hood roundabout. 

Any witnesses to the collision or who saw the Clio prior to the collision are asked to call Chigwell Roads Policing on 101.
