A 54-year-old man found unconscious inside the City of London Cemetery died of stab wounds, a post mortem examination has revealed.

Peter Charles John, of East Acton Lane in Ealing, was found with neck injuries and taken by air ambulance to hospital where he later died on July 23.

A murder investigation was launched after police arrived at the cemetery in North Boundary Road shortly after 2.15pm on Wednesday.

John Niccholles, 52, of no fixed address, has been charged in connection with the death and appeared at Thames Magistrates Court yesterday.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on August 11.
