A daughter has pleaded for help to find £35,000-worth of her late parents’ belongings, including her father's war medals, which were stolen by burglars so she can finally “lay their memory to rest”.

A safe was stolen during a break in at St Leonards Farm in St Leonards Road, Nazeing, in March last year.

The safe contained a total eight of medals given to Jane Clare’s father and grandfather for their service during the first and second world wars.

The medals included a WW1 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal given to her grandfather Robert Clare, also included in the collection was a 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Defence Medal, and War Medal 1939-45 all awarded to father Victor Clare.

Mr Clare died in 2004, while his wife, Joyce, died three years earlier.

The safe also contained two gold watches, gold wedding rings, pearl necklaces and earrings and cash.

The total worth of the safe’s contents was £35,000.

Mrs Clare, 47, who now lives in Ipswich, said: “I would like to lay my parents memory to rest and have my life back.

“No one should have to go through this after losing both parents in quick succession.

“This is a huge loss of valuable and sentimental belongings and I hope that by releasing this appeal I can get some information to help stop this personal nightmare.

“I am desperate for a return. I cannot describe my feelings of sadness and hopelessness, my heart is heavy.”

Mrs Clare’s 12-year-old son, Amadi Gray, who featured in Channel 4 programme Child Genius last year, was due to inherit the medals.

She said: “This burglary has spoilt our celebration of his achievements.

“The medals were due to be passed to him so he is devastated."
