Police have released CCTV of an attack by a mugger which left a woman with a broken arm.

The victim was walking in Northumberland Avenue, Walthamstow, on July 4 at 1.30pm when she was punched by a man who had just put on a Rastafarian style red, yellow and green beanie hat with fake dreadlocks.

The footage shows the woman was attacked from behind and her bag being pulled violently.

As she resisted she was punched in the hand and, as the bag was snatched, she was thrown to the floor, breaking her arm.

The bag included cash, a Samsung Phone, an Oyster card and a number of personal items and bank cards.

The suspect is described as black, aged between 30 and 40 with a bald head and goatee beard.

He is of slim to medium build and was wearing a white T-shirt with a coloured picture design on the front and a red pattern on the back, blue jeans, blue Nike trainers with white soles and lime green laces. He also wore dark sunglasses.

The victim has issued the following statement: "This attack has left me afraid to leave my home alone. I have been in constant pain since it happened and I don't yet know if my arm will ever completely heal.

“It scares me that this man is still out there possibly doing this to other people. He probably picked on me because I was an easy target. I pray that he will be caught and brought to justice for what he has done and that this won't happen to anyone else."

Anyone who has information concerning the identity of the suspect in this case should call Detective Constable Rina Nandra of Waltham Forest CID via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
