A woman has been hospitalised following a collision with a lorry this morning.

The accident involving the female pedestrian happened in Whipps Cross Road at around 11am.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 11am and treated a 38 year-old woman for a head injury.

She has been taken to the major trauma unit at Royal London Hospital as a priority.

Whipps Cross Road was closed in both directions between Lea Bridge Road and the Green Man Roundabout for over two hours.

It has just been re-opened but delays are expected in the area.

Traffic officers are preparing to leave the scene.
