A high level of ‘troubled families’ are being helped to turn their lives around in Redbridge, according to the council.

The authority says it has the fourth highest success rate in London in dealing with people who have been identified as struggling with unemployment, domestic violence, addiction and crime.

The council says 331 of 550 individuals identified have met agreed ‘goals’ under the scheme through counselling and support.

This is a sharp rise from 184 up to the end of March.

The government is to extend funding for the scheme which is distributed on a payment by results basis.
