Waltham Forest police borough commander Mark Collins of is speaking out on gangs in the borough.

Chief Superintendent Collins said there had been an increase in gang-related activity including serious youth violence across the borough since a gangs taskforce-led operation targeting a south Leytonstone gang in late April.

Through police work with the council and charities on the 'Enough is Enough' programme and enforcement-led operations, there has been a 57 per cent reduction in gang-related activity.

Chf Supt Collins said the local branch was in line to see a reduction in robberies and burglaries for the fourth consecutive year.
