A lorry driver has pleaded not guilty to causing the death of a cyclist by careless driving.
Barry Meyer, 52, of Audrey Road in Walthamstow, is accused of causing the death of Alan Neve during the morning rush-hour in High Holborn on July 15 last year.
Meter, a tipper truck driver, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court yesterday for a pre-liminary hearing.
He pleaded not guilty to all three charges, namely, causing death by careless driving, a licence offence and causing death while driving with no insurance.
Mr Neve, of Poplar, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death was one of 14 cyclist fatalities in London last year and sparked a wave of protests calling on Boris Johnson to improve safety standards.
Meyer was granted unconditional bail to appear at Blackfriars Crown Court on August 19.
