A date has been set for the trial of West Ham defender James Tompkins, who is accused of attacking a police officer.
The 25-year-old premier league star, of from Mount Avenue in Brentwood, is also charged with being drunk and disorderly and obstructing a constable in execution of duty outside the Sugar Hut Village nightclub in Brentwood on December 22.
He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court yesterday and has been released on bail until September 29, when he will appear at Southend Magistrates Court for trial.
