An unexploded bomb was found yesterday in a garden.
A hazard zone was set up around Princes Avenue in Woodford Green yesterday following the discovery of the shell, which police believe is from the Second World War.
Police were called to the road at 4.39pm after the device was dug up by a woman while gardening and the explosives team was called.
Residents were evacuated from the street but bomb experts found the casing was empty and posed no threat.
Residents were allowed back into their homes at 6.15pm.
