Traffic wardens have been caught parking illegally as they fine others for doing the same, it is claimed.
Carmen Birbeck photographed the unmarked car used by enforcers left on a yellow line with two wheels on the pavement in Theydon Grove, Woodford Green, at 1.45pm on Wednesday.
The restrictions in the street state that drivers must not park between 2pm and 3pm.
Mrs Birbeck said one of the passengers of the car issued tickets for cars parked in the same way.
Mrs Birbeck, 51, from Woodford Green, said when she challenged one of the wardens, she was told that there was nowhere else to park.
Mrs Birbeck added: “I suppose it is true, they do have to park somewhere, but they should park somewhere legal and then walk to the road they need to inspect.”
“I know nothing is going to happen to them, it’s the way of the world. It’s one rule for them and another rule for us.”
A Redbridge council spokesperson said: "[Traffic wardens] are permitted to park on waiting and loading restrictions such as yellow lines, kerb markings as well as permitted parking bays, pay & display, disabled, permit bays, however, this only applies when they are carrying out their statutory enforcement duties."
"Our advice to our contractors is always to use these exemptions as a last resort and where possible park without contravening."
