A man was hospitalised after a collision on Redbridge roundabout.
Police were called at 6.37pm yesterday to the incident involving a van and a car near Redbridge station in Clayhall.
The man, in his 40s, was taken to Whipp’s Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone, but the nature of his injuries have not been revealed.
This incident comes as the Redbridge Roundabout Action Group is calling for the layout to be changed to improve safety with a petition signed by more than 2,000 people.
Police recorded on average around one serious accident a week at the location between January 2011 and June 2014.
The petition has prompted a debate at full council next month.
A comment on the petition by Noor Mahmood reads: “This is one of the most dangerous roundabouts that I have come across in my 20 years of driving.
"Every time you are going on to the roundabout from Redbridge Lane East, it is like taking your life in your own hands. You are literally holding your breath until you are in the right lane.”
