Friends of a woman suffering from cancer are set to hold a fundraiser aimed at improving her quality of life.

Theresa Carr, 46, of Drayson Close in Waltham Abbey, was diagnosed with lung cancer last month and has since been told it has spread to her hips, knees and shoulder.

Friends of the mother-of-one, who is currently undergoing chemotheraphy, will hold the event on Sunday from 11am to 11pm at The Sun Inn Pub, Waltham Abbey.

The day will see performances from artists including, Britains Got Talent semi-finalist, Micky Dumoulin, and Luciee Marie Closier from BBC One's, The Voice.

Residents will also be invited to join in with the giant tug of war as well as a variety of stalls, a bikini car wash and activities for youngsters.

The group hopes to raise about £2,500 to buy a new mattress and a hoist to help Teresa in and out of the bath.

Ms Carr said: "I would like to thank all my family and friends and even people that do not know me that have gone out of their way to help me.

“ Everyone has been so brilliant that it has helped me get through this.

"It's times like this that we realise what a special community we live in."
