A group of teenagers have completed a challenging fire safety course aimed at building their confidence and improving their life skills.
The youngsters aged between 15 and 17 were awarded a Level 2 BTEC in Fire and Rescue services at a passing out parade on August 2 at Walthamstow Fire Station.
A special award was presented by the Worshipful Company of Firefighters to cadet Laila Essadgui, 15, who was nominated by her fellow cadets.
Youth Engagement Co-ordinator Sue Douglas said: "Laila's award is well deserved as her attendance has been impeccable and she is always the first to volunteer and willing to help out anyone on the course."
The future of the scheme is uncertain says London Fire Brigade and they are currently looking for further funding to offer the course in Waltham Forest again.
