A bar threatened with having its opening hours cut could now face losing its licence.

Waltham Forest police have applied for a review of the licence at Loco Lounge in Station Road, Chingford, as they say they "no longer have faith in the owners to be responsible licensees".

Licensing officer PC Donna Wilcox is heading up the review at the council's licensing sub-committee at the Town Hall in Forest Road tonight.

PC Wilcox had previously called on the committee to seek a reduction in the bar's current operating hours from 2am at weekends to midnight, but is now calling for the licence to be revoked.

It comes following a mass brawl in the forecourt of the bar that spilled into the nearby bus depot on May 31.

Police received three separate reports of crime and disorder over the May bank holiday in the Station Road area, which features several other bars, pubs and restaurants.

Police requested CCTV footage from all six cameras from Loco Lounge on June 6, but was told by the licensee to contact her solicitor.

A search warrant was later executed at the solicitor's office and police received the footage on June 26, but some footage was missing.

The missing footage was later handed to police, but police claim the bar had tried to withhold it, prompting the request for the licence to be withdrawn.

Tonight's meeting will include representations from both parties and documentary evidence in support of the bar from local businesses, residents and sports clubs nearby.

The owners of Loco Lounge have declined to comment pending the outcome of the review.
