A city farm has re-opened to the public following the completion of a £500,000 refurbishment.

The work at Brooks Farm in Skeltons Lane Park, Leyton, started in April and includes two new classrooms, a café, and upgraded animal facilities.

The farm was taken over by homeless charity YMCA in April, and is home to a wide range of animals, including alpacas, donkeys, rabbits and ponies.

Forest YMCA chief executive, Tim Pain said: "It has been extremely hard work to get to this day, and I would like to thank everyone from staff to contractors to our architects who have worked tirelessly to bring our vision for Brooks Farm to life.

“It is really great to see so many families and their children enjoying Brooks Farm once again, and we look forward to welcoming many more people."

Entry to the farm, which re-opened on Tuesday, is free from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am until 5pm.
